Thoughts Worth Sharing

In this letter: audio posts, surprise sign ups, new purchases, what’s in my cart, wearing a chef’s hat

Assalam o Alaikum friend,

We have been eagerly waiting for a snowfall here in our part of New Mexico.  Before moving, a possible true winter experience was something we looked forward to.  It would be a first for me but Hamza has had a lot of these experiences in his time in Alaska.  Sharing it together would be a beautiful thing. Speaking of snowfall, I pray that you are all well during the snow storm hammering the eastern U.S. We have had a few close calls but nothing has happened yet.  We are again expected to get some flurries tonight and should you be living across from us, you will see a few eager peeks through the blinds in the predicted hours to catch it if it happens, insha’Allah.

I found myself very excited to be writing you this letter in a I-can’t-wait-to-get-on-the-computer-today kind of way.  Such an excitement has been lacking here for a while and since I’m being off of Instagram, creative juices have found themselves back into my plate.  It has also allowed me to have some free time on my schedule and I did a few things to take advantage of it which is part of what I want to share with you today.

  • 01 // Letters in Audio

Now you can hear these letters in an audio format!  I had been thinking of it since last year but decided to make the plunge with that free time that I was talking about.  It is hard to find time to sit and read everything so you can either read along or pull it up during your commute or during that time you are waiting for you-know-who in the parking lot. I have converted all of the previous (new editions) of Wednesday Musings letters which you can listen to here. These audios can only be accessed through the website.

  • 02 // A Sunnah Family Surprise

If you saw your email last week, we started a Salawat Challenge together.  This was yet another thing that I had been wanting to do for a few months.  To be honest, I was very nervous announcing it due to not being able to share this on instagram to garner wider interest.  I thought that maybe 3 sisters would join us at most and I honestly would have been pleased with it as I feared no-one will.  Alhumdulillah I was surprised to find exactly 50 sisters join us in the challenge! If this is not barakah, I don’t know what is.  Insha’Allah Sunnah Living can continue to do good. If you have not joined us this time, please remember us in your duas. May Allah accept it, Ameen.

  • 03 // New Things

A few new things made their way into our mailbox last week:

  1. A new bag:  I change my handbag once every three years on average so far and a new one always comes along due to a necessary change.  This new handmade, purple cutie is here because the zipper for my previous yellow (lovingly called “Pacman”) bag broke and it’s currently 50% off!
  2. Ceramic bowls: Two new bowls are officially part of our ceramic collection! We had been needing bowls for some time but I kept putting these off until Pigeon Toe Ceramics had a 40% sale where I snagged two of them and needlessly to say, I’m in love.
  • 04 // Wearing a Chef’s Hat

With just a few more days left until my classes start, I have been fulfilling Hamza’s dinner requests because I know things are about to get really hectic. This has been yet another consequence of having free time.  If you have dietary restrictions like me, Capello’s grain free lasagna sheets are a winner. I have not tried a better substitute.  These tend to be heavy on salt so do not add any in your filling for a perfect taste.  You can find them in store or have them delivered.

  • 05 // What’s in My Mail

I did some online shopping over the weekend and I wanted to share with you what is coming up in our mail insha’Allah:

  1. Health-Ade Kombucha:  We have a box of this set up to be delivered monthly and this one has been delayed due to some shipping issues in our area.  This is one of the things we both enjoy together!
  2. Nutritious Things: I have been severely lacking in vitamins and minerals in my diet.  I’ve even stopped adding in the adaptogenic herbs I used to add in my daily matcha! So I’m getting some help with herbal goodies this week from my Arizona herbalist with this Winter Wellness Gift Box and Organic Choco-Mineral Nuggets
  3. A New Phone Case: Like handbags, I rarely change my phone case but I still change them much more often than I’d like. With every change comes a new addition to the landfill on my account so I’m trying something better for the environment with this Pela case and a back grip.
  4. Remote Camera Trigger:  This has been on my wish list for years and when Canvas shared it as their new release, I placed my order as soon as I could.  This Remote Camera Trigger will become extremely handy in my social media posts (especially those reels!) and I will be using it with their tripod which has been a game changer as a content creator.

Thank you for being here, friend. I hope your week ends with delights.

With love,

Samia
